Welcome to Central Valley Lifestyle Medicine

Central Valley Lifestyle Medicine provides evidence-based, physician-led care focused on preventing, treating, and in many cases reversing chronic disease through lifestyle intervention integrated with medical care. Our approach is grounded in the ACLM framework and expanded through data-driven monitoring, individualized treatment plans, and whole-person support.

Lifestyle Medicine (LM) is a therapeutic approach grounded in evidence that encourages modifications in an individual's lifestyle to enhance overall health. It is beneficial for both individuals with chronic health issues and those who are in good health.

This practice is grounded in scientific evidence and is supported by robust research. It is used in conjunction with traditional western medicine, empowering patients to take control of their health, with physicians serving as guides and advisors. The eight pillars of lifestyle medicine are outlined below.

Why is lifestyle medicine important?

The escalation in expensive disease management, preventable hospital admissions, clinician fatigue, and multi-drug therapy reflects a healthcare system in distress. Tackling these issues requires more than just small adjustments—it necessitates a profound transformation in our approach to delivering and prioritizing care.

Currently, around 60% of Americans, including an unacceptably high number of children, are affected by at least one chronic illness, contributing to the staggering $4.5 trillion in yearly healthcare expenses shouldered by taxpayers, despite most of these conditions being manageable. This crisis also impacts healthcare providers, with 62% of doctors expressing feelings of burnout.

Lifestyle medicine presents a pathway forward

When implemented on a large scale, lifestyle medicine establishes the groundwork for an innovative, value-driven healthcare system that is cost-effective, focused on patients, and fair. From bustling urban areas to remote clinics, across various specialties and demographics, healthcare systems across the nation are swiftly incorporating lifestyle medicine—restoring wellness and rekindling healthcare professionals’ enthusiasm for authentic healing.
The American College of Lifestyle Medicine emphasizes that optimal health outcomes are achieved when all pillars are applied together, rather than in isolation.
Our model builds on this principle by integrating clinical care, lifestyle intervention, and real-time data to deliver measurable improvements in chronic disease outcomes.

Nutrition Focused on Whole Foods and Plant-Based Ingredients

The role of food in preventing and reversing chronic illnesses.

Numerous scientific studies back a dietary approach focused on whole, minimally processed plant-based foods—such as vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds—as a key strategy for enhancing health results.

Lifestyle medicine employs nutrition as a therapeutic tool to tackle issues like hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease.
